LOTS have all utilities (County water, power, phone, and cable), well mantained State roadway access, and beautiful panoramic views of the ocean and Honomu town.

Honomu is a plantation community located 15 miles north of Hilo on Highway 220, off Highway 19.  Once a bustling center for the sugar industry, the town has changed with the times - but it hasn't lost any of its pure plantation town charm.  It is located on the way to Akaka Falls State Park, one of the island's most popular attractions.  The town consists of unique wood false-front buildings housing an assortment of food establishments, general stores, a bakery, art galleries, Hawaiian craft shops, antique shops, wood shops, a teddy bear store and more.  Several family farms grow all types of crops, including ginger, cucumber, taro, sweet potatoes and tropical flowers.  The town's Computer Resource Center was founded with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation's Managing Information in Rural America Program.  The Computer Resource Center is constantly bustling with activity from Honomu's residents, neighbors and visitors, who not only share access to office programs and equipment, but can also take classes.  The Honomu Village Association, started in the 1980's, is as strong as ever, with a community newsletter, and plans for the Second Annual Honomu Ginger Festival May 2003.  The small community of Honomu has no shortage of churches, with five representing numerous religious sects.  They include the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ, Good Shepherd Mission Catholic Church, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and two Buddhist temples, the Honomu Odaishisan and Honomu Hongwanji.  Honomu abounds with parks, streams and waterfalls.  Honomu is located just three miles from Akaka Falls State Park, and less than a mile from Kolekole Park.  At Akaka Falls Park, a short paved trail leads past streams and lush rain forests, blooming flowers and groves of bamboo into clearings with views of the 100-foot Kahuna Falls, and the famous 442-foot Akaka Falls, one of the most beautiful and accesible waterfalls in Hawaii.  Kolekole Park is where a fresh water stream and water fall meets the ocean with a paved parking area and covered pavilions.  Both parks are well maintained, and the parks are a great place to relax and enjoy life with your family.
